After hearing the stories about Budapest upon my return, Mary expressed a desire to see it for herself. The next time she accompanied me to Hungary to experience the Hungarian lifestyle for herself. She fit almost immediately and enjoyed herself immensely. My parents enjoyed showing her around and she made a very favorable impression with all the friends, relatives and acquaintances. It warmed my heart to see those people take her into their homes and hearts immediately, just because she was my wife. The same kind of warm reception was extended to her, as I had gotten so used to over the years of living there.
Mary told everyone when we came back to America that Budapest reminded her of living in the Midwest fifty years before that, when people had more time to talk, ask questions and listen to the replies.
