Trips to Aggtelek, Eger and Kalocsa
The apartment
Pictures from Hungary
Roger got to go to Aggtelek to visit the mostly unexplored caves and to Eger to visit the fort which was the site of an epic battle between the Hungarians and the forces of the Turkish Empire, a siege described in one of my favorite books growing up called Egri Csillagok or the The Crescent Moon in English. My father and Mary came on the trip to Kalocsa, a village and region of Hungary whose unique style of decorating is Mary's favorite.
My parents' apartment is located in the same apartment house the apartment was located in which I spent most of my childhood. The original one was on the first floor and is much bigger than this one on the second floor. All the apartments in this building have 12 foot ceilings, making them so much seem so much larger and airier than America's.

There are two entrances but only the main one is used. The other leads into the kitchen and is permanently locked. You find yourself in a long hall after entering with a door on the left to a small room, originally the maid's room. There is another door on the other side of the hall leading to the WC (water closet) or the toilet, housing only that.
